Assistant Professor (HOD)
Dr. Himanta Borgohain
joined in thisCollege on 17th February, 1998 as non sanctioned
lecturer in the department of Sociology in Amguri College. He came to account as sanctioned on 30th
October, 2005 in government records in fixed pay scale and in 2009 became as
regular lecturer. Prior to joining in Amguri College, he completed a long
journey of services in different colleges and different department of
governments. He has worked as Assistant Engineer in OIL, Duliajan, India for
one year. In 1994, he joined in Nakachari College for two months and after that
he joined in Patsaku Junior College, Sivasagar, as lecturer for two years. In
1996 he joined in Furkating College, Golaghat and rendered his service as
lecturer in the department of Sociology, and then he moved to North Eastern
Karbi Anglong College for two months. After that he joined in Amguri College.
Besides this, he joined as Sub Inspector of Supply in the department of Food
and Civil supplies and Consumer Affairs, Government of Assam for one year.
Since his joining, he is extending his service in numerous ways for sake and
well-being of the college in different aspects of academic, infrastructural and
in corporate life.

Borgohain completed graduation from Amguri College, Sivasagar Assam, Mechanical
Engineer (3 Years Diploma) from HRH the Prince Of Wales Institute of
Engineering and Technology (POWET- Jorhat),
MA in Sociology from Dibrugarh University, M.Phil from Periyar
University, Tamil Nadu and was awarded Ph.D degree from Dibrugarh University
and at present he is holding the post of Assistant professor in the department
of Sociology.

Borgohain was the coordinator of UGC sponsored National seminar organized by
the department of Sociology of Amguri College, Coordinator of (ONLINE ) One
Seven days Faculty Development Programme (FDP) Joint Association with RG Boruah
College, Guwahati & IQAC, Amguri
College with support from Skill Gym and was Assistant coordinator of two UGC
and ICSSR sponsored National seminar. He also conducted as Joint Coordinator of
one International Webinar, jointly organized by IQAC, Amguri College and
Sociology Department of Dibrugarh University. He is the co opted member in the
Board of Studies BOS in the department of Sociology of Dibrugarh University
since 2009 to till date and Life member
of prestigious All Indian Sociological Society(AISS). He had invited and
attended as Chairperson in one National Level seminar and as resource person in
colleges in Assam.
Dr.
Borgohain has attended 11 numbers of National and 2 numbers of International
seminars, 10 numbers of National Level workshops and two International
conferences. He published 21 numbers of academic course related books for both
UG and Higher Secondary level. He also published 06 numbers of articles in
journals, 06 numbers of National level and 03 numbers of International research
papers. He is the editor of two books
and one Journal till now. His most research interest area is Gender as well as
Criminology.
