Department of Sociology

The Department of Sociology was established in 1967 along with the college. Late Dr. Gyassuddin Ahmed was the founder teacher of the department. Over the years, the department grew through the contributions of dedicated educators including Dr. Minoti Chutia and Late Horen Dihingia. The department has successfully produced several research scholars, four of whom have received their Ph.D. from Dibrugarh University.

At present the department has five well-qualified and dedicated faculty members who excel in both teaching and research. The department aims at developing academically competent and professionally motivated young leaders equipped with objective and critical thinking.
